Civil registries abroad typically ask marrying foreigners for: a birth certificate, apostilled and officially translated; proof of single status (an affidavit of eligibility to marry, sometimes called constancia de soltería), notarized, apostilled, and translated; a divorce decree or death certificate if previously married, same treatment; and a valid passport. Some countries add medical certificates or residency-period requirements handled locally.
